How to shop the catalogues without overspending
The point of a shopping list is not the list — it is what it stops you buying. Build it from the half price specials that are actually on this week, add the staples you have genuinely run out of, then shop only that.
A workable weekly routine
Wednesday morning the supermarket catalogues reset. Open the new ones, save the two or three worth acting on, and add their deals to this list. Check deals ending soon before the weekend so nothing expires on you, and glance at next week's preview before you stock up — occasionally it is cheaper to wait seven days.
