Why catalogue end dates matter

Australian supermarket catalogues run a strict seven-day cycle. Coles, Woolworths and IGA all start on Wednesday and finish at close of trade the following Tuesday, which means a half price deal you spotted on the weekend can be gone by the time you get to the store.

Department stores, hardware chains and pharmacies run longer — commonly two to four weeks — so there is less urgency, but the final days of a Bunnings or Chemist Warehouse catalogue are still when stock on the popular lines runs out.
